Everything you need to know for your holidays in the Algarve

Férias no Algarve

The Algarve is Portugal’s number one holiday destination thanks, among other things, to its over 300 days of sunshine per year. Today, we’re going to give you some must-know tips and tricks for perfect holidays in the Algarve!

Overview of Tavira

The first thing you need to know is that the busiest time in the Algarve is between June and September, when people head down south in their droves for their summer holidays. With our focus firmly trained on our guests’ comfort, we provide the ideal conditions for those who want a peaceful holiday: 3 swimming pools, a private taxi boat to the beach on Cabanas de Tavira Island, sports and nightlife – all in one place.

The second most important thing is how you’re going to get here. A car is always the most practical way to get around and the best way to go on a day trip or two while you’re away. However, some other transport options are also available:

  1. Train – we’re only 1km away from the Conceição de Tavira train station.
  2. PlaneFaro International Airport is about 40km away and is well-connected to many destinations. Once you’ve arrived, you can rent a car, call a cab, or catch a bus to Golden Club Cabanas.
  3. Coach – there are several options of coaches available, run by companies such as Eva Transportes or Rede Nacional de Expressos, all of which will get you to Tavira (6km from our Golden Club).

Just like anywhere else, the Algarve is jam-packed with traditions and customs just waiting to be discovered, especially on your family holiday to the Algarve. Though the Algarve’s main claim to fame is its beaches, there’s just so much more to see and do! Not least exploring the region’s rich historical heritage… Here’s some of what you might see around here, so you can look out for it when you come to Golden Club Cabanas.

Algarve architecture has a very specific look and features, including decorated chimneys and colourful platbands. The Algarve is also a place for handicrafts aplenty – a demonstration of local creativity harnessed to produce blankets, runners, towels, fine linens and rugs, as well as pottery, ceramics and tiles, to name but a few. Excellent options of souvenirs to take home from your holidays in the Algarve.

Last, but certainly not least, is the true delight that is Portuguese cuisine, featuring a range of seafood, from fish to shellfish, as well as sweet treats made with figs and almonds. All experiences not to be missed when you choose the Algarve as your holiday destination!
