Active holidays: Exploring the Coastal Ecovia Route

The route of the Ecovia do Litoral in Tavira has a total length of 23,900 meters and runs along the Ria Formosa Natural Park, more specifically in the Tavira channel, and is part of the Atlantic Coast Route – EuroVelo 1, the European network of bike paths.

Along the way, you will be able to glimpse the most beautiful landscapes of the Algarve and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

We also highlight the Barril Beach Trail that crosses the Ria Formosa by the drawbridge and runs through the marshes where you will find crabs and migratory birds. Following the route, it continues to an extensive dune to the beach, where you can find buildings that once supported tuna fishing and also the famous anchor cemetery. You can also walk the 11 km long sand along the beach, by the sea, to Ilha de Tavira.
